DigiBand is essentially PlayStation’s Guitar Hero for the PC, and the layout of the game, the graphics, and even some of the songs are exactly the same as the mega-hit game for Sony.

The DigiBand Game

PlayStation was incredibly unique when it first burst onto the scene, offering a completely different type of video game than anything Nintendo or Sega was putting out. It didn't take long until PlayStation was dominating the market, and thus PS2, PS3, and eventually PS4 were all released to huge acclaim. The PS2 marked the first time in video game history since Nintendo’s Duck Hunt that such an interactive game was released, Guitar Hero. Earning billions in sales, spawning a few sequels, and developing an entire new style of gaming, this PlayStation mainstay even made PC gamers rush out to buy a PS2. Now with DigiBand, you can play the Guitar Hero clone on your home computer.

Anything that's a clone of a PS game is typically going to be a cheap knockoff. Surprisingly enough, this isn't the case with DigiBand. The game is detailed and extremely similar to GuitarHero. If you have a surround sound system, the experience is immersive and amazing. The game-play itself is also interesting, and you can use your keyboard to master the sequences or you can hook up an external controller.

Features of DigiBand

Perhaps the first thing everyone notices about DigiBand is that it’s basically Guitar Hero with a different name. Sure, there are quite a few differences when you start to break things down. But game for game, they're about as close as Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man. However, note that DigiBand is similar to the PS2 version of Guitar Hero, not the later, superior releases on the PS3, and not a full-featured game like Rock Band.

There are drum options in DigiBand, but they seem to be a little buggy or something. It’s just complicated to work the drums. For starters, you have to be in a solo game. Then there's the fact that the keyboard configuration is difficult to set and iffy at best when it comes to staying configured.

A huge plus with DigiBand is that it supports the guitar controllers from the PlayStation or even Xbox’s version of the game. So if you have one handy or feel like picking one up on eBay for a couple of bucks, then you won’t have to fuss around with the keyboard.

DigiBand itself only comes with one practice song, but you can download and add a wide array of music from different websites. And since the game is free, you might even decide to do this legally by purchasing songs.
